US Urges Respect for Human Rights Amid PTI Protests in Pakistan
The United States has called on the Pakistani government to uphold human rights and allow peaceful demonstrations, particularly in light of the ongoing protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized the importance of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly during a recent briefing. This statement comes as PTI supporters mobilize towards Islamabad to demand the release of their leader, Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned.
In response to the PTI's planned protest, the Pakistani government has taken significant measures to prevent the convoys from reaching their destination.
