Fazl renews call for fresh elections
Rehman reaffirmed JUI-F's commitment to its role as an opposition party, highlighting its participation in discussions concerning recent constitutional amendments. He expressed hope for a constructive term under the new Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, while choosing not to comment on the tenure of the outgoing Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. This indicates a strategic approach to maintain focus on current issues rather than past controversies.
In addition to political matters, Rehman addressed the Federal Shariat Court's ruling on transitioning to an interest-free economy, stating that the country is expected to implement this system by 2028. He also commented on the situation of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan, indicating that it is premature to discuss potential negotiations or meetings regarding his case.
Lastly, Rehman praised the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting for its positive economic implications and urged political unity to enhance the economy. He remained unaware of any plans for new constitutional amendments but made it clear that JUI-F would oppose any attempts to include the controversial 26th Amendment in future legislation, signaling the party's firm stance on key political issues.
